These images are a part of the series of images surrounding life models. Thank you to all the models who have helped in the creation of this work.
I got into life modelling 17 years ago. I saw a postcard in a framing shop looking for a life model in a local art class. I’d been to few nude sauna’s in Germany so being naked is not an issue for me. I had a break when my kids were small and took it up again six years ago.
I had surgery for a hernia repair in October and was not well enough to work for 16 weeks as my body was slow to heal. The doctors talked further surgery to help it heal which would have resulted in me loosing my belly button, thankfully last minute they decided that was not the best option.
I’m getting back into modelling again now, still listening to my body about what I can manage but finding interesting and challenging poses nevertheless.
I often have conversations with artists around body confidence and their body image which feels such a privilege. I feel in presenting myself, imperfections and all it encourages others to accept the body they live in.
